2018 Korean Government Scholarship Program for International Graduate Students

Applications are invited for Korean Government Scholarship Program from graduate students of 167 countries. Up to 700 scholarships are available for masters and PhD degree programmes.The Korean Government Scholarship Program is designed to provide higher education in Korea for international students with the aim of promoting international exchange in education, as well as mutual friendship amongst the participating countries.GKS (Global Korea Scholarship) Program is a scholarship program that paid by the Government of the Republic of Korea for foreign nationals in the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Education organized, responsible for the project implementation agency directly under the Ministry of Education National Institute for International Education.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Applicants with certified scores on their proficiency in Korean or in English might be given preference. Some examples include the following: – Proficiency in Korean: TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) – Proficiency in English: TOEFL, TOEIC, or IELTS Academic.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate program at Participating Universities in Korea.

Study Subject(s): Applicants must choose their field of study from the listed programs in the university information section provided by participating universities.

Number of Awards: 170 persons (undergraduate course).

Scholarship Award:  Scholarship benefits are:

  • Airfare:  Entry to Korea: an economy class flight ticket to Korea, Return flight: an economy class flight ticket from Korea to KGSP grantee’s home country, The airfare for entry will NOT be provided to scholars who have resided in Korea from the time of applying and on, The return flight is available only for the KGSP grantees who successfully complete their degree coursework,  The return flight is NOT offered for those who withdraw from the scholarship,  Any fees incurred in the domestic travel within a KGSP grantee’s home country are NOT covered, International travel insurance is NOT covered, The flight tickets for the Chinese and Czech KGSP grantees will be prepared and provided by the Chinese and the Czech governments, according to the agreements with the Korean government.
  • Settlement Allowance: 200,000 KRW

  • Degree Tuition: Fully covered – Tuition up to 5 million KRW is covered by NIIED, and the amount that exceeds 5 million is covered by the host university. – The KGSP grantees are waived from the admission fees of the universities.
  • Dissertation Printing Fee Reimbursement – The actual cost of printing as written on the receipt will be reimbursed. – The maximum amount is 500,000 KRW for degrees in Liberal Arts and Social Science and 800,000 KRW for degrees in Science, Technology and Engineering.
  • Medical Insurance: 20,000 KRW per month 13
  • Korean Proficiency Grants: 100,000 KRW per month – This special funding is available for KGSP grantees with levels 5 and 6 on TOPIK.
  • Scholarship Completion Grants: 200,000 KRW – It is offered for the KGSP grantees who return to their home countries after completing their degree coursework under the scholarship. – It is not offered for the KGSP grantees who decide to stay in Korea after the completion of their degree coursework.

Scholarship can be taken in Korea

Eligibility: Eligibility criteria is:

  • Both an applicant and his/her parents must be citizens of their country of origin.
  • Applicants should not hold Korean citizenship.
  • Applicants should have adequate health, both mentally and physically, to stay in a foreign country for a long time.
  • Should be under 25 years of age at the date of entrance. (Undergraduate)
  • Should be under 40 years of age at the date of entrance. (Graduate)
  • Have finished or be scheduled to finish formal education of all elementary, middle, high school courses by the date of arrival. (Undergraduate)
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree by the date of arrival. (Graduate)
  • Applicants who have previously enrolled in a university in Korea are not eligible to apply to the KGSP program. Specifically, an applicant who has previously enrolled in any undergraduate program, master’s program, or doctoral program in Korea cannot apply for this program.
  • However, a KGSP scholar who has graduated can apply for this program again only via the embassy and only if he/she holds a TOPIK score of at least Level 4 and obtains another recommendation from the Korean Embassy of his/her respective country of origin (re-application is limited to one instance).
  • Possess a grade point average (G.P.A.) above 80% from the last educational institution attended.

Scholarships for International Students at University of Porto in Portugal, 2017

The MOBILE+3 project supports 144 scholarships for pursuing undergraduate, master and doctoral programme. In order to be eligible for an Erasmus + scholarship under this project, students must be a student/staff from the institution which is a part of the project’s Consortium.The MOBILE+3 project, coordinated by the University of Porto in the framework of the European Programme Erasmus + – Key Action 1 International Credit Mobility, is aimed at student mobility at various levels as well as academic and administrative staff, in both directions, IN and OUT, and includes institutions from more than 14 countries from outside Europe.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate, master and doctoral programme.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.

Scholarship Award: The MOBILE+3 project provides the following financial support to the grant holders:

  • Monthly allowance (the amount per month will depend on the Mobility’s direction);
  • Round trip plane ticket between the grant holder’s home city and the host country;
  • Health, accident and travel insurance valid during the entire mobility period

Number of Scholarship: The MOBILE+3 project supports 144 scholarships.

Scholarship can be taken in Portugal

Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • In order to be eligible for an Erasmus + scholarship under this project, you must be a student/staff from the institution which are a part of the project’s Consortium.
  • The MOBILE+3 project offers grants for exchange mobility. As so, all the students must be registered in a HEI and enrolled in studies leading to a recognized degree or another recognized tertiary level qualification.
  • For Undergraduate studies: Students must be enrolled at least in the second year of higher education studies in order to be eligible to undertake an exchange period abroad.
  • For Master studies: Students must have completed at least one semester at the home institution before undertaking an exchange period.
  • For Doctorate studies: Students must have completed at least one year of studies and have already a research project.
  • For academic and administrative staff: Must work (full-time) at a partner institution of the project in order to be eligible to apply for a grant.

All applicants must receive the formal support of their home institution, through the issuing of a support letter (this documents is mandatory at the application stage). Erasmus+ enables students to study or train abroad more than once as Erasmus+ students as long as the minimum duration for each activity and a total maximum of 12 months per study cycle is respected.

Nationality: Students from Partner Institutions of Algeria, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Egypt, Georgia, Morocco, Russian Federation, Serbia, South Africa, Thailand, Ukraine, United States and Uzbekistan.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have previous degree.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirement: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

How to Apply: To fill in the Application Form, the following steps must be considered:

  • The applicants should have a valid e-mail address and an internet connection.
  • As a way to access the form, the applicants should create a new login in the “Apply” section, selecting the type of scholarship they want to apply to (ex: undergraduate exchange).
  • The form will open with a set of questions regarding general eligibility criteria;
  • The applicants must answer truthfully to all questions so as to ensure the fulfilment to all general eligibility criteria. In case one eligibility criteria is not fulfilled, the system will immediately inform the applicant through the following message: “Please verify the eligibility criteria.”
  • The applicants should then fill in the online Application Form available on the project’s website. The system will save a draft of the application every time the “Save” button is pressed, allowing it to be revised, edited and completed.
  • The applicants should carefully prepare and revise the application before pressing the “Submit” button. After selecting the “Submit” button, it is not possible to make any additional change to the already submitted proposal. Accordingly, if you would like to make any valid changes, you must create a new register and fill in another application form.

Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations offer Chevening scholarships for master degree programmes. International applicants are eligible to apply.Chevening offers a unique opportunity for future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers from all over the world to develop professionally and academically, network extensively, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK.

Chevening is the UK government’s international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders since 1983. Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, Chevening offers two types of award – Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships – the recipients of which are personally selected by British Embassies and High Commissions throughout the world.

Applicants must have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry to a postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.

Course Level: The programme provides full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree at any UK University.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are provided to study any subject at any UK University.

Eligibility: To be eligible for a Chevening Award you must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country
  • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended
  • Have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.
  • Have at least two years’ work experience (this may be up to five years for fellowship programmes, so please refer to your country page for further details)
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 12 July 2018
  • Meet the Chevening English language requirement by 12 July 2018

You are not eligible for a Chevening Award if you:

  • Hold British or dual British citizenship (unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) and are applying from Hong Kong)
  • Are an employee, a former employee, or relative of an employee (since July 2015) of Her Majesty’s Government (including British Embassies/High Commissions, the Department for International Development, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, Department for International Trade, the Ministry of Defence and the Home Office), the British Council, or a staff member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Employees, former employees, or relatives of an employee (since July 2015) of Chevening Partner organisations are eligible to apply, but cannot receive a Chevening/Partner Award from the organisation for which they work, previously worked, or are affiliated with through relatives.
  • (Note: Immediate relatives are defined as parents or step-parents, siblings or step-siblings, children or step-children, spouse, civil partner or unmarried partner (where the couple have been in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for at least two years)
  • Have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship. However, if you have previously studied under a UK Government-funded scholarship (including Chevening), you may be eligible to apply for a Chevening Fellowship five years after completion of your initial UK Government-funded scholarship.

College Admission Requirement

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirements: Applicants are free to take tests more than once in order to meet the Chevening English language requirement. Please note that Chevening does not pay for costs associated with English language testing. You are responsible for booking and paying for costs associated with these tests.

Chevening accepts English language tests from five providers:

  • Academic IELTS
  • Pearson PTE Academic
  • TOEFL iBT
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CEA)
  • Trinity ISE II (B2)

The English language test must be taken from one of these providers on or after 1 October 2015. If you do not already have an existing eligible test certificate, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have booked a test date so that you can obtain the required results.

Applicants are not permitted to take pre-sessional courses to fulfil the Chevening English language requirement. You will be required to take one of the approved English language tests unless you fall into one of the exempt categories.

Fellowships are awarded to highly qualified incoming GW full-time graduate degree program seeking students who have gained admission to the University and whose program is on the main Foggy Bottom Campus.

As part of the admissions process, applicants must have passed the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 600 on the paper-based exam or 100 on the internet based exam, or an IELTS overall band score of 7.5 (with no individual band below 6.0).

Swiss Government, through the Federal Commission, offers excellence scholarships for foreign scholars and artists in Switzerland. Scholarships are available for pursuing Ph.D., postdoctoral, research programs and fine arts at one of the public funded universities or recognized institution.The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or Ph.D. and at foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree.Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Recipients are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS).Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing Ph.D., postdoctoral and research programs and fine arts scholarships are for the Master program (according to the ECTS credits).

  • Special CHF 300 housing allowance (paid once at the beginning of the scholarship).

  • PhD scholarship holders may request a supplementary allowance for fieldwork. For fieldtrips lasting longer than 2 months the scholarship amount will be reduced to 50%.

Postdoctoral scholarships:

PhD Criteria

  • Master’s degree or equivalent university degree recognised by the Swiss university. The applicant must have achieved this degree before the start of the scholarship next September. As a proof the degree has to be submitted to the Federal Commission for Scholarships before the start of the scholarship.
  • Applicant’s date of birth after 31 December 1982.
  • Applicants who have been in Switzerland for more than one year at the beginning of the scholarship in September are not eligible.
  • Applicants must provide a letter from an academic host professor (including her/his short CV) at the chosen Swiss university confirming why she/he is willing to supervise and support the PhD thesis. Without such support, the application will be rejected.
  • Applicants must have a research proposal including a timeframe. This is the centrepiece of the application. The applicant must devote all required attention to it.
  • Applicants must be in command of the necessary language skills required for the PhD studies/ research.
  • Applicants who have already benefited from a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship are not eligible to apply for a second scholarship.
  • Scholarship holders are expected to move to Switzerland during their grant period.

Postdoctoral Criteria

  • PhD degree
  • No more than five years may have passed between the award of the Ph.D. and the application deadline.
  • Applicants who are in Switzerland for more than one year at the beginning of the scholarship in September are not eligible.
  • Applicants must provide a letter (or email) from a professor at the Swiss host institution stating that they are willing and entitled to supervise the postdoctoral research. Without such confirmation, the application will be rejected.

  • Applicants must be in command of the necessary language skills required for the postdoctoral research.
  • Applicants who have already benefited from a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship are not eligible to apply for a second scholarship.

How to Apply: The application package can be obtained by e-mail from the Swiss Embassy. Please submit 3 sets (=1 original + 2 copies) of application documents in exact order given below: The 1st set contains the original, signed documents plus the confidential letters of recommendation and if applicable the attested translations. The other two sets are the copies of the 1st set except for the confidential letters of recommendation (only 1st set).

  • Signed FCS application form (typed and printed) with photo.
  • A full CV with list of academic publications.
  • A motivation letter (max. 2 pages).
  • A complete research proposal (max. 5 pages, signed), using exclusively the FCS research proposal form.
  • A copy of the letter from an academic host professor (including her/his short CV) at the chosen Swiss university confirming why she/he is willing to supervise and support the PhD thesis.
  • For PhD scholarships at doctoral schools*: A proof that the applicant is being considered for admission. Except: EPFL: accepted admission required.
    *A support letter from a host professor is required in any case additionally.
  • Two confidential letters of recommendation from two different professors in the applicant’s field (use exclusively the FCS reference form – originals in sealed envelopes only for the 1st set).
  • Photocopies of certificates and grade sheets from previously attended universities/colleges and diplomas with grades, starting with the most recent. If not in English, French, Italian or German with attested certified translations.
  • Signed medical certificate (use only the FCS health certificate form).
  • Two copies of the applicant’s passport (main page with personal data). Dual nationals add copies of both passports.
  • Please do not put the documents into plastic folders or binders.

Government of the Slovak Republic National Scholarship Programme for Foreign Applicants, 2017-2018

Applications are invited for National Scholarship Programme for foreign applicants. The scholarship supports study/research/teaching/artistic mobility of foreign students, PhD students, university teachers, researchers, and artists at higher education institutions and research organizations in Slovakia.The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic (NSP) supports also mobility of students and PhD students studying at Slovak higher education institutions.In 2005, the National Scholarship Programme for the Support of Mobility of University Students, PhD Students, University Teachers, Researchers and Artists was established by the approval of the Government of the Slovak Republic.

Course Level: Scholarship supports study/research/teaching/artistic mobility of foreign students, PhD students, university teachers, researchers and artists at universities and research organisations in Slovakia.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in all subjects offered by the universities and research organisations in Slovakia.

Scholarship Award: The scholarship shall cover scholarship holders’ living costs (accommodation, board, etc.) during their study/research/teaching/artistic stay at higher education institutions, research or non-governmental organisations in Slovakia. Regarding the accommodation and administrative duties related to the entry to the territory of the Slovak Republic, scholarship holders can contact their host institution or they can arrange these issues themselves. In case of applicants from abroad, the NSP does not cover travel costs related to arrival and departure from Slovakia. Changes of the monthly scholarship amount are in force since the call for applications with the application deadline!

  • University student (2nd level of higher education): 350 €
  • PhD student: 580 €
  • University teacher/researcher/artist without PhD degree (or its equivalent) and less than 4 years of experience as a university teacher/researcher/artist: 580 €
  • University teacher/researcher/artist: with PhD degree (or its equivalent) and less than 10 years of experience as a university teacher/researcher/artist: 850 €; with PhD degree (or its equivalent) and more than 10 years of experience as a university teacher/researcher/artist: 1 000 €

Scholarship can be taken in the Slovak Republic

Eligibility: The following individuals are eligible applicants for a scholarship in the framework of the NSP:

  • Students, who are university students abroad and will be participating on a study stay in Slovakia within their 2nd level of higher education (or will be participating on a study stay in Slovakia at least during the 7th semester of their higher education, i.e. in case that they are students of a joined study programme – joined 1st and 2nd level of higher education), and who are accepted by a public, private or state university in the Slovak Republic to an academic mobility1 to study in the Slovak Republic;
  • PhD students, whose higher education or research preparation takes place abroad, and who are accepted by a public, private or state university or research organisation eligible to carry out a PhD study programme2 (e.g. Slovak Academy of Sciences) in the Slovak Republic to an academic mobility1 to study/conduct research in the Slovak Republic;
  • Foreign university teachers, researchers or artists, who are invited by an organisation with a valid certificate of competence to carry out research and development seated in the Slovak Republic, and which is not a business organisation3 to a teaching/research/artistic stay in the Slovak Republic.

Nationality: Citizens of the following countries are eligible to apply for a scholarship in the framework of the NSP: Russian Federation

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Scholarship supports study/research/teaching/artistic mobility of foreign students, PhD students, university teachers, researchers and artists at universities and research organizations in Slovakia.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Government Scholarships

How to Apply: Scholarship applications are submitted online. Original hard copy of the Admission/Invitation Letter from a Slovak higher education institution or research organisation can be sent by scholarship applicant’s host institution in Slovakia directly to SAIA in Bratislava (please, note that in this case, the scholarship applicant must have at least a scan of the document, so he/she is able to attach it into the on-line application; otherwise he/she will not be able to submit the application). For the submission of the document the same requirements apply as for other documents submitted as original hard copies. Required documents that must be attached to the scholarship on-line application for a study/research stay in Slovakia in case of foreign university students and PhD students (category A and B):

  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • Cover letter (motivation letter);
  • Copy of a Bachelor/Master diploma, diploma supplement and state examination certificate (if any);
  • List of publications in required form, in case of PhD students;
  • Admission/Invitation Letter from a higher education institution or research organisation in Slovakia – host institution commits to accept the scholarship applicant for a study/research/teaching stay (the exact period of the stay must be stated in the document). The Admission/Invitation Letter must be issued on letter-head paper of the host institution and it must be signed by the person who issued the document. In case of PhD students, the Admission/Invitation Letter should not be just a formal invitation, but it should reflect the interest of the host institution in applicant’s study/research/teaching stay in the framework of the NSP. Period of the scholarship stay stated in the Admission/Invitation Letter must match with the period stated in applicant’s on-line application and on the date of the application deadline, it must not be older than 3 months.
    Required documents that must be attached to the scholarship on-line application for a research/teaching/artistic stay in Slovakia in case of foreign university teachers, researchers and artists:
  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • Detailed teaching and/or research programme (please, state the date of the beginning of your scholarship stay, period of your stay and a detailed timetable of your stay);
  • Copy of a diploma with the highest academic degree achieved;
  • List of publications in required form;
  • Invitation Letter from a higher education institution or research organisation in Slovakia (the exact period of the stay must be stated in the document). The Invitation Letter must be issued on letter-head paper of the host institution and it must be signed by the person who issued the document. In case of university teachers, researchers and artists, the Invitation Letter should not be just a formal invitation, but it should reflect the interest of the host institution in applicant’s research/teaching/artistic stay in the framework of the NSP. Программа «Михаил Ломоносов», новый конкурс

Программа «Михаил Ломоносов» – финансируемая совместно DAAD и Министерством образования и науки РФ программа для проведения исследований по техническим и естественно-научным дисциплинам в университетах и научных центрах Германии.
 
Стипендии предназначены для молодых ученых из российских вузов, подведомственных Министерству образования и науки (заявки от соискателей из учреждений РАН не принимаются).
 
В рамках программы различаются два типа стажировок: линия «А» предназначена для аспирантов, а линия «В» для молодых исследователей, имеющих ученую степень. Повторное участие в программе допускается только каждый второй год.
 
Целевая группа
Аспиранты очной формы обучения и молодые ученые технических и естественных дисциплин, которым на момент 01.10.2018 еще не исполнится 35 лет, имеющие диплом специалиста или магистра. В качестве соискателей целевой группы «А» имеют право участвовать в конкурсе также кандидаты наук не старше 35 лет.
Сроки стажировки
Стипендиаты стажируются в Германии 6 месяцев, с 1 октября 2018 по 31 марта 2019 года. Сроки стажировки фиксированные и изменению или сокращению не подлежат.
Размер стипендии
·       Стипендия составляет 1200€ в месяц. Часть стипендии, финансируемая из средств МОН РФ, переводится на счет российского вуза и выплачивается стипендиату через бухгалтерию. Часть стипендии, финансируемая DAAD, переводится на счет, открываемый стипендиатом после прибытия на место проведения стажировки.
·       Оплата страховых взносов по договорам медицинского страхования, страхования от несчастного случая и страхования гражданской ответственности.
·       Фиксированная выплата на частичное покрытие дорожных расходов.

Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Successful candidates are expected to have a Masters (or Specialist or an equivalent) degree in mechanical or materials engineering.
  • Previous experience in experimental mechanics in general and mechanics of composite materials related experimental and simulation methods, in particular, is highly desirable.
  • Successful candidates are expected to have experience with laboratory equipment. One of the primary responsibilities of a candidate will be to develop, produce and put into operation the test set-up.
  • The candidates should have a desire to conduct experimental studies. A good knowledge of mechanics of continuous media, damage and fracture mechanics, and calculation software tools is also required.

Nationality: Russian applicants are eligible for the position.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have master degree.

English Language Requirement: The candidates should have at least an upper-intermediate level of the English language.
