Post Doc — In situ in charge material characterization using XR imaging

Post Doc — In situ in charge material characterization using XR imaging

PsD-DRT-17-0055

RESEARCH FIELD: Materials and applications

ABSTRACT

Damages of materials is a complexe phenomenon that concerns many domains of application. Understanding the physical mechanisms of fatigue failure is a main issue to improve materials and the dimensioning in relation to fatigue .The use of XR tomography in the analysis and identification of damage and microstructures has attracted increasing attention recently. Indeed, this non destructive technique of Imaging can preserve the integrity of the samples, provide a whole view of the complex morphology of microstructures, and enables one to track the evolution of various damage mechanisms over time.In this context, CEA TECH Pays de la Loire sets up a fatigue machine in its robotised xr imaging facility, and collaborates with the LAMPA to study and characterize the damage processes due to fatigue in additive manufacturing materials. The post doctoral work will focus on the initiation and the propagation phases of cracks in test pièces, and will characterize the microstructure of the under loading materials by in situ xr imaging.
