The Department of Computer Science at Southern Illinois University seeking highly motivated and creative students who are eager to get involved in cutting-edge research. Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or Computer Engineering and have a solid background on Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and Multimodal Signal Processing. We are looking for individuals motivated to pursue research under the project Multimodal Virtual Reality Interaction with Intelligent Virtual Characters. The positions are part of the newly funded Graphics & Entertainment Technology Lab.

Candidates should have a solid background in artificial intelligence, and virtual reality. Excellent programming skills in C++ or C# are expected and experience in Unity3D, HMM, Behavior or Monte Carlo Search Trees, is a plus. Fluent communication skills in English are essential.

The Graphics and Entertainment Technology Lab lead by Dr. Christos Mousas is a new group at SIU, focusing on computer graphics, animation, virtual reality, and digital fabrication.

 Посольство Франции в России — Департамент по науке, технологиям и Космосу – информирует об открытии конкурса 2017 года программы «Андре Мазон» для финансирования краткосрочных визитов.

Программа «Андре Мазон» предусматривает финансирование визитов учёных и преподавателей, сотрудников высших учебных заведений, государственных или частных научных организаций, из Франции в Россию и из России во Францию продолжительностью не более пяти дней.

В программе могут принимать участие представители любых научных дисциплин.

В 2017 г., программа включает один конкурс.

International students with a passion for Science and Engineering research, excellent academic qualifications, good reports from academic referees, and fluency in English are encouraged to apply for this award. TOEFL, IELTS and GRE are NOT required.

Course Level: Awards are available for pursuing PhD studies either at National University of Singapore (NUS) or Nanyang Technological University (NTU) or the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

Study Subject(s): SINGA only supports PhD studies in the field of science and engineering.
Scholarship Award: The award provides financial support for up to 4 years of PhD studies. It includes:

  • Full support of tuition fees
  • Stipends – S$2,000 per month (S$24,000 per annum), to be increased to S$2,500 per month (S$30,000 per annum) after passing Qualifying Examinations
  • One-time S$1,000 settling-in allowance
  • One-time airfare grant of S$1,500

The University of Helsinki Scholarships are now open for autumn 2017. These scholarships are intended for excellent students from outside the EU/EEA who want to do a master’s programme at the University of Helsinki.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing master’s programme at the University of Helsinki.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.

Scholarship Award: The exact amount of the Be 1* of the Best scholarship depends on the amount of tuition fee one has paid for an academic year in the programme. For the 2017 intake, the scholarship categories are:

  • Amount of the whole tuition fee (13,000, 15,000, or 18,000 euros) AND Living Cost Grant of 10, 000 euros.
  • Amount of the whole tuition fee (13,000 or 15,000 or 18,000 euros)
  • Half of the amount of the tuition fee (6,500 or 7,500 or 9,000 euros)
  • Living Cost Grant (10,000 euros)

The German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) is offering 60 scholarships to young scientists.

Course Level: Scholarships are available to doctoral students for the research programme at German universities.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded in the field of environmental protection.

Scholarship Award: As of 01.07.2016 the basic grant per month is 1,500, – €. In addition to Scholarship, a monthly allowance of 210, – € for material and travel costs (Reimbursement of expenses allowance) paid. Any additional material resources can be granted only in exceptional cases and on a small scale. If this age-wishes will have the scholarship application, a detailed and complete Cost plan are attached. Fellows with children receive a child allowance. Is the children’s allowance 200, – € for the first child and an additional 150, – € for the second and each additional child. Fellows with child / children may, on request in special cases (e.g. birth and settling into the family of the child) disease a family break-elections in which the DBU scholarship rests. This family leave is limited to maximum 12 months limited per child. The DBU provides approximately 60 research fellowships at German institutions annually for young scientists from the aforementioned countries. In addition to financial support, health, accident and liability insurance is also provided.

Eligibility: Scholarships are awarded to applicants who

  • Has not yet begun that thesis.
  • from foreign applicants good knowledge of German is expected to allow integration into the DBU scholarship network is possible.
  • In addition to a higher university degree is expected from the chosen thesis topic that is of high relevance and can contribute to solving problems in environmental protection and conservation.

Tampere University of Technology is offering a generous scholarship programme for international fee-paying students.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing master’s programme.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.

Scholarship Award: The TUT scholarship programme consists mainly of tuition fee waivers awarded to the most talented students. The fee waivers awarded may cover either 50 % or 100 % of the full tuition fee. TUT scholarships are awarded during the admissions process or can be earned during the studies.

Eligibility:

  • Students wishing to be considered for a TUT scholarship must apply for the scholarship at the same time with their application for admission. There is no separate scholarship application; the scholarship application is made by ticking the appropriate box in the application for admission. Applicants who are admitted will get the decision concerning admission and scholarship at the same time. The TUT scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, evaluated on the basis of the student admission criteria. The TUT scholarships awarded in conjunction with the student admission process are full tuition fee waivers which cover 100 % of the tuition fee. The TUT scholarship is awarded to a sizeable proportion of the admitted students.
  • Applicants who are admitted to TUT and awarded the TUT scholarship must confirm their study place at TUT within two weeks of the admissions decision in order to retain the TUT scholarship. If they fail to confirm their study place within this deadline and only confirm by a later deadline, they will lose the scholarship.

LabexMER proposes new international fellowships programme for young scientists in Marine Sciences. 

 In order to be eligible, applicants must have received their doctoral degree within the past 3 years at the closing date of the call.

Course Level: Fellowships are available for the postdoctoral research programme.

Study Subject: Fellowships allow young scientists to propose their own research project in marine sciences (within the LabexMER research axes) to be carried out in one or several LabexMER laboratories.

Scholarship Award: The postdoctoral appointment is for a period of two years. Recipients of the awards will receive a net salary of about 2200€ per month. In addition, support is available for travel expenses, equipment, and supplies. Work contract will include national health and dental insurance, as well as retirement and unemployment benefits.

Eligibility: In order to be eligible, applicants must have received their doctoral degree within the past 3 years at the closing date of the call. This condition of 3 years maximum after the thesis is considered either from the defence date or the graduation date (most advantageous case) and can be extended in special cases (maternity, illness …). Applicants showing more than 3 years after thesis (maximum 3 years + 6 months) will be considered if they can provide a support letter from one member of the LabexMER Scientific Committee.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for PhD programme at University of Edinburgh.

Study Subject: Scholarships are offered in diverse fields to help students in upgrading their education.

Scholarship Award: Each scholarship will have a value of £5,000 per annum and will be deducted from your tuition fees and will be tenable for three years. These awards cannot be held concurrently with fully-funded scholarships such as a Dorothy Hodgkins Postgraduate Award, Commonwealth Scholarship or a School Studentship. They can, however, be combined with other partial funding.

Eligibility: The scholarships are offered to applicants who are liable for the overseas rate of tuition fees and starting a full-time PhD programmes in the School of Chemistry in 2017-2018, with start dates between 1 September 2017 and 1 June 2018. The Supervisor with which you wish to study must support your application.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for PhD programme at University of Bristol.

Study Subject: Scholarships are offered in diverse fields to help students in upgrading their education.

Scholarship Award: Awards are made as either a full scholarship (fees plus a maintenance grant) or a partial scholarship (fees plus part of the maintenance grant) but the minimum amount awarded is normally no less than 50 per cent of the overall cost (fees plus maintenance grant). Where a maintenance grant is provided, the value of this normally matches the amount recommended by Research Councils UK (RCUK) but may vary depending on the funds available.

Eligibility: Scholarships are available to students who meet the requirements for entry to their chosen programme and who have been made an unconditional offer. For international and EU students, this includes the provision of documentation which demonstrates that you have met our English Language Policy entry requirement.   • Applicants must hold a PhD(Norwegian doctoral degree) or equivalent degree. Appointment is dependent on the public defence of the doctoral thesis being approved. The candidate should be able to work independently and structured, while at the same time engage in close collaborations with members of the research group and research participants.
